How Durable is the finish on a Toad Custom Paint job?

VERY DURABLE. Toad applies multiple layers of clear coat throughout the different stages of the process. This is done not only to separate and protect each layer of color, but provide depth, and durability to the finish. When all artwork has been applied Toad then coats the parts with multiple layers of clear coat for the high gloss level finish. Many of his older paint projects are still on the road and in like new condition.

How many different people touch my parts in the process?

Not counting shipping and other people........ONE. Toad is the only person who touches your parts from the time they are handed to him. He alone does all the prep work, base coats, artwork, and final finish. This does mean turn around times may be a little longer than a mass produced shop, but the work is well worth it.

Can I see the progress on my project?

ABSOLUTELY!! Part of the reason for this website is to post pictures of "Current Projects" Each project will be given a unique number and all you have to do is check out the website under your project number. The number will be coded with the month/Day the parts were taken into the shop and your initials. (ie, NOV30TCP).

Once my custom paint job is done will it ever be re-produced?

In over 30 years Toad has never reproduced and exact duplicate of any job he has done. There has been other projects that have been inspired by one already in the photo album, but Toad prides himself on truly providing a custom work of art. Rest assured once painting is done the work is yours and yours alone.

Does the paint Job add any resale value?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! In a lot of cases buyers may not like the same paint job you did. Therefore it may not offer any resale value to the potential buyer

What if I want to keep my factory paint on parts for later use?

This brings us to the best way to provide Toad with parts. Toad recommends purchasing a second set of parts it at all possible from a reputable third party manufacturer. This allows the custom paint to be put on a new untreated surface with less prep work required. It also allows you to re-install the factory parts with the OEM paint should a buyer not want your custom artwork. In addition it means you are not without use of your original equipment your motorcycle, for example, is still rideable while your paint is being done.

Why does it cost more for helmets and hockey masks that do not start out basic Black or White?

This is because there is less prep work involved in removing factory applied paint and/or decals. In addition using aggressive chemicals to remove paint and decals can adversely affect the helmets protective qualities. Toad prefers to use new helmets to start on to maintain the helmets original protective properties, and minimize the cost to you. Starting with a blank canvas is always best.
